Happy tails Riley! One long road to adoption, but

Happy tails Riley! One long road to adoption, but it was the place she was destined to go! Her adopters fell in lo e with her when visiting their foster. We are so thankful that the adopters were patient through this long process and Riley stayed in the rescue until she could be spayed due to the distance.

Riley went home to a town in Arizona near the CA border, we typically don't do out of state adoptions, but will consider them provided that a home check can be done. Especially in these communities, where loving and caring adopters are not able to find pets due to their location.

Inquire within if you are interested in volunteering for helping us complete successful adoptions in remote areas.

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED! PLEASE HELP US!

Sad news, Trixie (Now Sammie) is getting returned to the rescue and we have only been given until tomorrow 2/20 to place her elsewhere and we dont have any fosters available. If you are able to take her in even temporarily, please inquire within.

We have an appointment for her to get her spayed on 2/28.

Any takers, please? We can't have her going to boarding.

Trixie is about 7-8 months old, crate trained, and knows some commands. She has been living amongst other dogs, but seems to no longer get along with her adopter's dog. We would prefer that she goes to a home as an only dog at this time until we can evaluate her and get her spayed.

Announcing our first intake of 2024! Welcome Indie from Irvine Animal Shelter to our rescue. Her rescue was possible as we got contacted by a former adopter of ours who also volunteered to foster her. We will be posting her soon.

Indie needed rescue as she was suffering from fear an anxiety at the shelter. Christina her current foster is experienced with this personality trait. We are happy to report that Indie made her self right at home and is getting along great with PPITS alumni Midnight.

Happy New Year! And Happy Caturday! We have been quiet while we geared for the New Year and closed our fiscal year, but we have continued our rescue activities. We are happy to report that thanks to those who donated generously in December, we are able to continue our cat colony mission in Paso Robles. This week, our volunteer trapped this girl who got spayed and her vaccinations. As part of our partner program with Woods Humane Society. We are also happy to announce that during the whole process, this girl turned out to be really sweet and will be on the road to adoption. Blaze is still in URGENT need for a foster. The family that has been caring for him is no longer able to care for him and we need to place him with a foster in the next few days. Blaze came to our rescue after his owner lost his life from drowning during the winter rain in LA. Blaze is a sweetheart who loves people, is good with kids, and would be a great walking partner. PPITS needs your urgent help with fostering Luna.

PPITS needs your urgent help with fostering Luna. She has recently been returned to the rescue as her adopter is no longer able to physically care for her. Luna gets along with other dogs large and small and we hoped that she could be transferred from her adopter to another adopter, but it would be best if she went to another foster sooner than later. Luna is a bit insecure so she would do great in a home with other dogs with proper introduction and a foster that could show her the world. I'm really hoping that she can go to a new foster as soon as possible. Please help Luna, we have been extremely short on foster intakes and we can't do this without you. Happy tails Charlie! One of the dogs that we rescu

Happy tails Charlie! One of the dogs that we rescued with the most trauma we had ever seen. At the time of his rescue, we had not been informed of what this guy had gone through until a few weeks after we had had him. We started working with a trainer, but realized that his rehabilitation might take longer than expected, while we kept the hope that the right adopter would come along. Our prayers were answered and Charlie found an amazing home with doggy brothers and sisters and a mom with the right personality, experience and attitude to provide Charlie with what he needs. To say that we are over the moon doesn't even express how happy we are for this guy. (PS: We were not sure we would be able to get a pic like this because Charlie does not like to be held... We are so proud of his new mom!)

This one has been pending for a bit, but we are so excited to annouce Tony's adoption! We struggled to get this baby healthy, but after 3 months we were able to start his vaccinations and complete his adoption. His foster family fell in love with hism during the whole process and he stayed with the people he loves the most! Happy tails baby!

This bundle of joy was brought to our co-founder's

This bundle of joy was brought to our co-founder's front door steps today by a young man in her neighboorhood who found her on the street nearby. She is about 8-10 weeks and in good shape for a stray baby kitten except for coming in with some serious flea dirt and fleas and being underweight. After being brought in, she immediately proceeded to eat and got quite plump, so we decided to name her Pumpkin.

Our rescue has been seriously struggling with donations and we need help to cover her veterinary care and spay once she is old enough. We could not say no to taking her in.

Today is Pitbull Awareness Day! Although our Rescu

Today is Pitbull Awareness Day! Although our Rescue's acronym PPITS just turned out to have PITS in it by chance, we have always been proud of it because we are huge advocates of the breed and promote the responsible adoption of these sweet and often misunderstood pets.

Most rescues don't take these guys in because they are prone to long adoption wait times, are so often neglected and abused that they require expensive medical treatment, behavioral modification and training to rehabilitate them into the wonderful pets we know they are.

While most have prescribed strong leaders as adopters, we have learned that to have successful adoptions for these guys, it comes to adequately pairing human and dog personalities. So often these guys have a huge need to bond to a human and that is what we look to find for our pittie pets for adoption.

While city and county governments have started to come a long way in allowing this breed back into their neighborhoods, there is so much left to do, which starts to basic dog ownership and if you have always wanted to save one of these guys, that is where you start!

We encourage our public to foster to get better acquainted with dog care and pittie care. In the meantime, we will continue to love the breed and advocate for them.

Happy tails Baby! Mama Baby joined our rescue after a good Samaritan found her pregnant tied to a pole. Baby delivered 8 puppies on Thanksgiving who were adopted earlier this year. Baby was left behind but after a few meets and greets, she was truly was waiting for the One!

Some of y’all might remember Hope, the horse that was found tied to a telephone pole out in the middle of nowhere in the high desert near Lancaster two days before Christmas in 2021.

After a lot of wrangling with the shelter and a local horse rescue,, trying to find a foster, and a hauler, the sun, moon, and stars came together.

The shelter allowed us to pull her the day after Christmas. We found an amazing foster and a very gracious hauler.

Hope had elf hoof and eyes so badly damaged and painful that we had to eventually have them removed.

We immediately had a farrier come out to trim and balance her hooves and shoe her, and a team of vets, including our veterinary ophthalmologist on the case.

Her foster foster-failed and decided to make her a part of the ranch. She’s living the good life now at Blue Roan Ranch Sanctuary!

Because she is blind, her brain does not receive the signal to shed her winter coat for the summer. She got a bath and clipping yesterday. She is very happy and looks great! Sorry for the photo, but our little Tony Stark relapsed after weeks of medical treatments for the herpes virus he was rescued with at only 2 weeks old.

He is seeing the vet as we speak and is having to be nebulized to clear his airways and is going on an antiviral regimen, with a checkup in one week.

*Keep your pets with a collar and tag with your phone number (use duck tape and write your number and attach to collar as a back up).
*Make sure your pets are microchipped and that your contact information is updated on the chip.
*Contact your veterinarian for prescription medication to help your pet stay calm.
*As a back up, you may use cbd full spectrum.
*Do not let your furry companion(s) unattended if fireworks cause them stress.
*But if you have to leave your home, leave a radio or TV on that will provide a different atmosphere and help mask the noises outside.

Welp, it is the end of an era. Tomorrow, we say goodbye PPITS longest resident, Hector.

We pulled him out of Downey in January 2016. This is his freedom photo. Aside from a brief six-month adoption, he has been with his same PPITS foster this whole time.

While we are super sad to see him go, we know it is his time. He has always had neurological issues. He has cancer. He started developing a condition where his body wouldn’t absorb nutrients, no matter what we tried. The mass on his spine is now starting to put pressure on it to the point where he is losing the use of his back legs.

He has definitely fought a long and courageous fight for so long, and now it’s his time to be restored.

Hector, we love you so much. Now it’s time for us to send you over the Rainbow Bridge so you can truly run free.

We cannot thank you enough for all of the love and support we’ve received in the past few days to ensure that he has a peaceful goodbye at home. The at home Vet will be coming over tomorrow at 1:30 PM PDT. This past week we received news that Maggie has a cancerous mass in her chest that needs to be removed. This little lady came to our rescue after her mom lost her life to cancer. She had been adopted from OCAC and upon her arrival to PPITS, her teeth were so bad, that it was affecting her liver. After a number of extractions and close care with @caminopethospital her liver values improved. Now we have this additionL phase of care for Maggie to ensure hwr survival. Her removal surgery has been quoted up to $1000 and we need the help of our community to provide this operation to her as soon as possible and any needed medical follow-up care.

Welcome to PPITS Princess/Smidge! We just rescued this little girl from Apple Valley Shelter. Smidge was suffering from Pyometra and was set to be euthanized yesterday. We didn't know if she was going to survive the night from her illness as we were sending our request to pull during those final hours, but thanks to a generous donation and a foster plea, we were able to save her just in time. HAPPY TAILS FOR ZUMA!! Our sweet Zuma has had quite the long journey with us and we are so happy to see her smiling in her furever home. ❤️

ZUMA's JOURNEY:

Zuma was rescued in 2018 as an owner surrender after spending her puppyhood tied to a porch. She was adopted but unfortunately during the peak of COVID her adopter dumped her at the shelter rather than returning her to us (sometimes, even with home checks, interviews, and adoption contracts, you can only do so much to ensure adopters do the right thing).

Thankfully, all of our rescues are microchipped and we were able to retrieve her from the shelter and take her into foster once again. The puppy we knew in 2018 had been changed by trauma and abandonment and unfortunately was exhibiting behavior issues. She had lost weight, was anxious to be outdoors and had become dog reactive.

But we never gave up on our girl and made sure to spend the time, money and effort getting her back to her true self with professional training and love.
