Spay/Neuter Program
Year round, we work to save at-risk animals from abuse, abandonment and neglect.
One of the biggest issues we fight is shelter overpopulation. According to the ASPCA, each year, over 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized in our nation’s shelter system (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats). California, in particular southern California, has the highest euthanasia rates of any other state in the U.S.
It has been proven that spaying and neutering can dramatically reduce the number of animals in our shelters and strays on our streets. As an added bonus, it also helps prevent unwanted behavior problems, which can often lead to owner surrenders.
What is Paw Prints in the Sand doing to make a difference?
We recognize the severity of the pet overpopulation problem. One of our goals is to reduce shelter overpopulation and put an end to needless euthanasia through our Spay and Neuter Program.
Not only does our Spay and Neuter Program help the pets we rescue, donated funds also help families in our community who may not be able to afford spay/neuter or basic vetting services, thus increasing owner retention rates.
